Activities and programs

PREP: Nov 30th- December 15th

We are excited to offer PREP [Personal Responsibility Education Program], an evidence-based curriculum that builds skills to prevent STI and HIV transmission and unintended pregnancy. Information alone won’t prevent teens from engaging in high-risk behaviors, but evidence shows that having accurate information about the consequences of unprotected sex helps teens make better choices, especially when parents/guardians reinforce the program’s information with clearly communicated expectations.

This program is designed to engage teens in conversations that encourage them to take charge of their physical, emotional, and sexual health. Anyone who successfully completes the course (at least 6 out of the 8 classes) will be rewarded with a $100 gift card! All teens 13-18 are welcome to participate, regardless of any attendance at the Basement Teen Center.

PREP will begin Tuesday November 30th. Classes will be held Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. (November 30th, December 1st, 2nd, 7th, 8th, 9th, 14th, and 15th.) The 8 sessions will be held on Zoom, and we are happy to accommodate anyone who wants to attend in person. Virtual students will need a computer with internet access, and a private space where they can attend with confidentiality, privacy, and no distractions.

There will be 3-4 more PREP courses over the next year, and we’re happy to add anyone to the waiting list for a future PREP. Parental permission slips are also required. Please register before November 26th. For registration, more information, or a permission slip, please email the Director of the BTC, Robert Morgan, at, or call 802.229.9151 ext. 234.
