The Basement Teen Center’s Amazing Race is coming! We need you, Superheroes!

9:30am, October 6, 2018 @ the Basement Teen Center

What is the Amazing Race?

This annual fundraiser for the Basement Teen Center brings together teens and community members in a family-friendly race around downtown Montpelier in teams of four.  Following cryptic clues from station to station, participants must complete challenges that test them mentally and physically in order to win!  Not only is the race FUN, but it also helps to raise money for the Basement Teen Center to continue to offer a safe, free space for teens in Washington County to come together and participate in activities that encourage positive growth.  Teams of all types are welcome – families, youth teams, adult teams, complete stranger teams would work too, I guess, and any other combination you can think of!

The team that raises the most money for the BTC gets first choice of the prize pool, teams that have the best costume get 2nd choice, and teams that display the best superhero attitudes get third pick. The prizes are –

$150 gift card to Sarducci’s – Take the team out to dinner!
Four Amazon Kindle 7’s – One for each team member!
A trip for your team to Get Air plus Pizza Party!
Four $40 gift cards to Buddy’s Famous Burgers
A chocolate fountain with 4 pounds of dark chocolate, white chocolate, bananas, strawberries, and marshmallows!

How YOU can support the Amazing Race!

1) Form a four person team and compete in the race
Whether you form a team with friends, family, coworkers, or complete strangers, you’re in for a day of fun! Racers must complete eight challenges around Montpelier that range from giant bananagrams on the State House Lawn to slingshotting water balloons off the top of Hubbard Tower. Each team is encouraged to raise $100 – that’s only $25 a person! Email to start a team!
2) Volunteer on Race Day
Amazing Race could not happen without the support of its AMAZING volunteers! Volunteers help run challenge stations, set up the post-race event, and keep the day running smoothly all while having a blast! This year, we’re encouraging volunteers to raise just $25 to support the cause!
3) Sponsor a team
It’s quick! It’s easy! Just go to the crowdrise page, click on your favorite person, and donate!
4) Sponsor a volunteer
What better way to say thank you to our volunteers than helping them fundraise? Just go to the crowdrise page, click on one of the volunteers, and donate!

If you’re ready to sign up your team or would like more information on how to get involved please contact us!

BTC Presents: The Green Rainbow

The Green Rainbow is a new program for teens who want to learn more about the startling biodiversity of the natural world. Part outdoor adventure and part picnic, this multi-week series begins on July 24th and will happen every Tuesday until the end of August. We will be exploring LGBTQIA+ themes as we discover the ways animals and plants express their genders and sexual orientations and make art based on our reflections.

This program is free to youth ages 13-18. Youth ages 13-17 will need a permission slip signed by a parent or guardian to be a part of the program. You can pick up a paper copy of the permission slip at the Basement Teen Center, if you like.
