Scary-oke, pumpkin carving, shortfilm and more!

It’s the last week of October and that Halloween feel is really in the air.

Jackie and Nick are out today, so I (Tyler) and various other folks from WCYSB will be running the Basement.  I might try to do some editing for the shortfilm project if anyone is interested.  Other than that, it should be a mellow day.  If it’s nice out, I’ll set up cornhole at 4pm.  If not, we’ll play a board game.

TUESDAY Jackie may be screen-printing.  I would like to do a video production day, but we’ll have to wait and see if that will work out for everyone.  I will not be here on Wednesday and Thursday I will not be able to go to the Basement until late.

WEDNESDAY will be up to Nick and Jackie.  Perhaps a video or photo challenge is in the works for that.

THURSDAY is supposed to a Fall Shortfilm production day, but I have Americorps training so it will be a shorter-than-normal production day.

FRIDAY we will be doing pumpkin carving and karaoke at the Basement.  It will be a lot of fun.  Bring your best haunting voice and ideas for a great jack-o-lantern.  We will provide the pumpkins, but you have to let us know on Thursday if you will be there and want to carve pumpkin so we know how many to get.

And don’t forget about next MONDAY!  The Basement will be open until 10pm for our very own Halloween dance party!  Best costume will win a prize at the end of the night.

This week: Skate Park trip, Boys’ Night, Teen Council, and more!

Today we’ve got the Barre Skate Park trip planned, so everyone that signed up better be at the Basement by 3:30 today.

Stop by TUESDAY for art projects with Jackie!  I’m not sure what she’s got planned this week, maybe she brought some ideas back with her from Virginia.

WEDNESDAY is October’s TEEN COUNCIL.  As always, there will be free pizza and we have some pretty cool ideas for things to do this upcoming holiday season!

THURSDAY we will get production of the fall shortfilm project in full swing.  I’ll reserve some equipment from Orca media for us.  Also, seeing that school is closed on Thursday, we will be open from 1-5pm.  Film making will begin at 2:30pm.

FRIDAY is Boys’ Night starting at 6pm (after dinner).  We’ll fill you in more as we get closer.  If you have some ideas of what you would like to do on Friday, let Jackie, Nick, or me (Tyler) know so we can make it happen.

Finally,  Halloween is only two weeks away!  In honor of this spooky occasion, we have a double-slam, pumpkin-carving/karaoke night NEXT FRIDAY (10/28)!  Let us know if you’re interested in carving a pumpkin and we’ll get one for you!

And on HALLOWEEN, even though it is on a Monday this year, we will be open until 10pm hosting the Basement’s first annual Halloween Dance Party!  It will be awesome!  A prize for the coolest costume!

A good week to…

Watch some movies?  Make some movies?

How about both?

WEDNESDAY will be the latest installment of our video challenge.  Check facebook tomorrow for a description.

THURSDAY we’re going to keep our video flow going with our first production day for the fall short-film project.  If you have any interest in any aspect of video production, be here at 4pm!

FRIDAY is our horror film marathon!  Suggestions so far are: Night of the Living Dead, The Ring, The Grudge, Poltergeist, The Exorcist, Insidious, and The Fourth Kind.

If you have other suggestions, let us know.  I’ll be tallying the votes until Thursday.  We’ll watch the two with the most votes.  Maybe the third one if we have time.

Documentary Showing Friday! Plus, more fun video projects

Starting the week off a bit late on the blog, here: this afternoon we will be doing screen printing with Jackie!  If you have a design that you would like to put on a shirt, we can help you do that.

Also, if you have any ideas for the DVD cover for the Basement’s documentary, we would love your input.

WEDNESDAY we will have a special challenge for you, check our facebook page tomorrow.

THURSDAY there will be a meeting about the short film we will be making this Fall.  Come down if you have ideas for a story or want to play a role in the film otherwise.  The Emily’s bridge idea seems to be the prevailing one.  If you’ve heard any stories about Emily’s bridge, we want to hear them.  If you’ve never heard about Emily’s bridge before, ask around, or maybe you could make up a story.

And there are plenty of roles we need to fill.  We’ll need actors, cinematographers, sound people, story boarders, directors,  writers, grips, costume designers and more!  Tell your friends!  We would like to submit this for next year’s Green Mountain Film Festival!

And FRIDAY, we will have the second showing of this past summer’s Basement Teen Center documentary.  If you haven’t seen it, or would like to see it again, now’s your chance.  (See the flyer posted below)

We will also be selling copies of the documentary on DVD for $5!
